Frequently Asked Questions
How does a virtual 5K race work?
When you register for the Ghostly Gallop, you will receive a race bib to use when you go out and run a self-timed 5K. Then submit your time on the 5K website. The male and female runner with the best time will receive the first-place Cranna Cup.
Do I have to run the course traditionally used by the Ghostly Gallop?
No. You can run your 5K on any course you chose.
Is that fair? Some courses may be harder than others.
That’s right. Virtual races are not as realistic as in-person races. Our goal is to support the library and to encourage people to get out and run.
When can I run my 5K?
Saturday, October 16th through Sunday, October 31st.
Will I receive a timing chip or anything like that to certify my time?
No. This is a self-time race. Just wear a watch or have a friend time your run. When you register, you will receive via email a printable Ghostly Gallop race bib to use during your run if you choose.
Is uploading my time to the race website easy?
Yes, the website will provide a link for submitting times.
How do I enter my results?
Once you complete your run, head to your confirmation page here to submit your results and a photo. Participants can submit their time on their confirmation page, which was included in their confirmation email when they registered. This link was emailed again to each registrant on Oct. 29th.
Will the results for all runners be listed on the website?
Yes, all submitted times will be listed on www.ghostlygallop.info.
Are the costs the same this year as they have been in the past?
We have lowered the registration fees to reflect the virtual nature of the Ghostly Gallop.
